Nigeria: NYSC Posts Majority of Corps Members to Schools - Co-Ordinator

Mohammed Aminu in Sokoto The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Sokoto State, monday said it had posted 90 percent of the 1,099 corps members deployed to the state under the 2015, batch " B", Stream two to secondary schools.
The state Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Thomas Yamma, made the disclosure during the closing ceremony of the three-week orientation exercise at the permanent orientation camp in Wamakko local government area of the state.
He said this was a deliberate effort to complement the recent action of the state government's declaration of the state of emergency in the education sector.
"The gesture is to complement the efforts of the state government in the education sector and also in line with the state government's policy on rural development," he said.
Yamma commended the state government, the Sultanate Council and the people of the state for their sustained assistance to the scheme.
In a remark, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, said no nation could develop without harnessing the potentials and resourcefulness of its teeming youths.
Tambuwal, who spoke through the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Alhaji Musa Ausa, said the scheme remained one of the veritable tools used by the government to positively affect lives at various levels.
The governor to this end, warned employers in the state to desist from rejecting corps members posted to them.
Also speaking, the chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Sahabi, said the management of the scheme and the state government had made adequate arrangements for the security and welfare of the corps members throughout the service year.
