Bayern scored five and Barcelona hit six as they geared up for their round of 16 deciders, while Paris Saint-Germain wrapped up the French title with eight games to spare.
Paris were crowned French champions for a fourth successive season as Ligue 1 top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimović notched four. Laurent Blanc's side clinched the sixth French championship in their history with eight games to spare to set a new Ligue 1 record in the process – Gérard Houllier's Lyon were crowned champions after 33 games in 2006/07.

Odion Ighalo and Adlène Guedioura struck as the visitors stunned FA Cup holders Arsenal in the last eight. Substitute Danny Welbeck reduced the deficit two minutes from time but was unable to prevent the Gunners suffering a third successive home defeat in all competitions for the first time since November 2002.

Casemiro headed in a late winner to claim the points for Madrid in a dramatic conclusion to their Canary Island trip. Sent off in added time, Sergio Ramos nodded in from a first-half corner, but the visitors had to dig deep after Willian José levelled with three minutes remaining. Casemiro promptly restored the Merengues' advantage to keep them within four points of second-placed neighbours Atlético.
